Church At Home | Running With Perseverance
Pastor Aaron Buer teaches Running with Perseverance by exploring the call to run our race of faith with endurance. We discover that life's difficulties are guaranteed in our broken world, but Jesus shows us how to persevere through suffering by fixing our eyes on him. We're challenged to identify and throw off the things that hinder our faith—whether it's entangling sin or good things we've elevated above God—and remember that he pioneered and perfected our faith. This message reminds us that perseverance isn't a solo journey but one we run together as a community, helping each other keep the faith and find strength in Christ.

The Magi
Christmas 2025. Pastor Aaron Buer teaches about the Magi's role in the Christmas story. We see how God reveals himself to unexpected people in unexpected place. As we celebrate Jesus’s birth, we remember the new life available to us through him and how he welcomed us into his family.
Son of Mary
Pastor Aaron Buer explores the lineage of Jesus through Mary's extraordinary story in this Christmas message. We witness how an ordinary young woman's extraordinary faith and obedience played a crucial role in God's redemptive plan. Through Mary's response to God's unexpected call, we discover what genuine surrender and trust look like in our own lives. We're challenged to consider how our own response to God's purposes can impact not just our lives but future generations.

Beyond the Weekend Devotionals

12 Months of Prayer
This year in Beyond the Weekend, we will journey through a different biblical model of prayer—one each month. We will learn from the Old and New Testaments, Jesus and the early church. Throughout Scripture, we see God's people talking to him in a variety of ways. Prayer is vital in our lives as Jesus followers. As we grow in prayer together, we believe God will deepen our faith and trust in Jesus. We believe the Spirit will transform us into people who reflect more of Jesus’s character. We believe God will widen our impact for the gospel. God invites us to talk with him, and this year we will learn to do so with greater confidence and joy...

Community
The language the writer of Hebrews uses in this passage is plural. They emphasize that the race of faith is something that should happen with others. Faith isn't a solo marathon. In fact, plural words appear five times in only two verses! This is significant! These early Christians would've understood that when they run, they're not to run alone. When they throw off the things that slow them down, they do it together. They help one another keep the faith and are accountable to each other to abstain from sin...

Throw Off
The writer of Hebrews uses the imagery of someone running a race. The runner hastily removes anything that could slow them down. Heavy clothing or extra gear. Gone. Anything they're carrying that will limit their ability to finish. Toss it aside. They must do whatever is necessary to maximize their potential to finish. The faith of these early Christians should mimic the runner. They need to toss aside anything that gets in the way of faith in Jesus. They need to deal with sin that could cause them to stumble and fall...
