Pastor Aaron Buer continues our Spaces series by exploring three encounters on the road—the lake path, the desert road, and the Damascus road—to reveal what it truly means to follow Jesus. We discover that Jesus doesn't invite us to bring him along on our journey but calls us to leave our path and follow his, becoming disciples who think, talk, and live like Jesus. We learn that God relentlessly pursues outsiders, moving toward anyone who takes even a small step toward him, just as he did with the Ethiopian eunuch on the desert road. We are challenged to embrace our identity as both disciples and witnesses, recognizing that wherever we are and whatever we do, our role in Jesus's mission is to serve and testify to who he is.

Mark 1:16-20

¹⁶As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. ¹⁷“Come, follow me,”Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”¹⁸At once they left their nets and followed him.

¹⁹When he had gone a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets. ²⁰Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.
