GROUP VALUES. This week, we conclude our focus on the value of SERVING. As mentioned above, September marks the beginning of our Spaces series and serves as a starting point for many of our fall ministries. Many of these ministries are still looking for volunteers to serve and help create spaces where people can grow in their relationship with Jesus. As you discuss sanctification today, ask your group: Could serving within our body of believers be an act of sanctification in your life this season? Consider how God might use serving others to grow your faith and help you become more like Jesus.

THIS WEEK'S SERMON

This week, Pastor Jeff Manion continued our discussion on salvation by exploring the active reality of salvation, our sanctification. As a group, recall some of the sermon’s main points and big ideas.

We live in a culture that often celebrates instant results and quick fixes. Where do you see people expecting immediate change in their lives?

Following Jesus is not simply about something that happened in the past; it also involves an ongoing process of becoming more like him. Why do you think Christians sometimes lose sight of this?

God wants to free us from habits, attitudes, and desires that keep us from experiencing the life he intends for us. What are some things that can quietly become enslaving in our lives?

Have someone read Ephesians 2:8-10 aloud. Good works are a response to salvation, not something we do to earn salvation. Why is keeping this order important for how we understand our relationship with God?

Spiritual growth often requires work—doing things that are difficult or uncomfortable. Where have you seen this type of work happen in your life or someone else’s? What happened because of that work?

Eternal security can be summarized as “once saved, always saved.” Whereas assurance is the confidence we have that we have been saved. What evidence have you seen in your life (good fruit) that you have been saved?

God invites us to actively participate in the work he is doing in us. What is one area where you sense God inviting you to cooperate with him for greater freedom and transformation right now? What is a good first step?
