Nehemiah

Pastor Jeff Manion continues our Epic series by examining Nehemiah's journey from devastating news to courageous action. We discover how Nehemiah responds to Jerusalem's brokenness by turning to God, honestly assessing the massive damage before him, and persevering through exhaustion and opposition. Through Nehemiah's midnight inspection of the ruined walls and his rallying cry to remember the Lord, we see that rebuilding requires facing hard realities, persevering with devoted hearts, and fighting for what matters most. This message challenges us to trust God's presence in our pain, and seek his strength to persevere even when we're tempted to give up.

The Finish Line

Pastor Jeff Manion concludes our Rebuild series by focusing on maintaining focus amidst distractions and threats that seek to derail us at the end of a rebuild project. He examines how Nehemiah faced internal division and external attacks as the wall neared completion. We learn that finishing well requires resolving conflicts, radical generosity, pushing through betrayal, and refusing distraction. This message challenges us to persevere in the rebuilds God calls us to, staying focused on His purposes despite obstacles that arise along the way.

The Challenge of Midway

Pastor Jeff Manion continues our Rebuild series In Nehemiah by highlighting the importance of perseverance in any rebuilding project. He examines how the people faced discouragement, exhaustion, and threats yet still continued rebuilding the wall. We learn that beginning the work is crucial but continuing through challenges is vital to see God's purposes fulfilled. This message inspires us to identify areas of weakness and vulnerability so we can rely on God's strength to persevere as we keep building for His glory.

Fight

Nehemiah stands before the discouraged Israelites as they face opposition while rebuilding Jerusalem's wall. Their enemies mock them, threaten to attack and sow fear among the workers. In this moment of crisis, Nehemiah rallies them, not with military strategy or motivational speeches, but by redirecting their focus. He points them to God's character—his greatness and awesomeness—and reminds them what's at stake. He doesn’t tell them to fight and protect themselves, but to protect their families, homes and the future of God's people...

Persevere

The Israelites’ muscles ache. Their hands are blistered. The work is physically and emotionally demanding. Their enemies threaten them relentlessly. Yet, Nehemiah and the people are devoted to the work at hand. Though they are tired, overwhelmed and afraid, they keep working, even with weapons strapped to their sides. They persevere because they know God called them to this important work. Though they are tempted to quit, the people do not give up, and they complete the wall in a staggering fifty-two days (Nehemiah 6:15)...

Assess

Nehemiah takes a midnight ride around Jerusalem, three days after arriving. God had impressed upon Nehemiah’s heart a desire to rebuild the city wall. Before he could create a plan for the work ahead, it was important for him to assess the damage to the walls honestly. He needed to know the extent of the work ahead...
