THREE THINGS TO KNOW
DON’T MISS THIS
We’re so excited about our new fall series on Mark called The Company of Christ. Engage in an impactful way with our journal + more in our Fall Resource Kit. We’re mailing kits the week before Sept 19/20. Whether you’re attending online or in-person, be sure to order your kit today at adabible.info.
GROUP VALUES
As we continue to navigate through a season of new challenges and different school/work schedules, discuss together how your group can care for one another during this time. Knowing that you are each in the other’s corner can help lift the weight and provide encouragement.
GROW AS A LEADER
We want to encourage and equip you as leaders. One way we do that is through our online leader modules. We recently added a new module focused on helping you in one-on-one conversations. Access the modules at learning.adabible.org/small-groups.
DISCUSSION GUIDE
Welcome to the first week of our new series, The Good, The Bad & The Beautiful. This week’s conversation helps us consider two questions (why the beauty and why the ugly) often asked by people all over the world, which leads them to pick up the Bible for answers.
What was your favorite thing you did this summer?
This weekend, John Dickson shared that the Bible is the best-selling book worldwide. What strikes you most about that fact?
WHY THE BEAUTY?
Read together 1 Timothy 4:4-5. What does this tell us about the beauty of God’s creation and how we are to enjoy it?
We often don’t stop to ask the question, why the beauty? Why do you think the Bible’s answer to this question is significant?
WHY THE UGLY?
You only need to turn to the first part of the first book in the Bible to see ugly enter the scene. Read together Genesis 3:17–19. What does the Bible say is the reason for the ugly and broken we see in our world?
Why is it important to understand that despite the ugly in the world, God’s goodness doesn’t change?
The ugly we see is not only in the world around us, but it also lies in the human heart. How have you seen this ugliness in your heart lately?
THE RIGHT TO DOUBT
John Dickson explained that when compared to some other major world religions, Christianity gives a unique perspective and answer to the question, why the ugly? What did you think of this comparison?
The Bible shows us there is room for doubts and even “complaints” about the ugly in our world. Why do you think God gives us these examples in the Bible?
