THREE THINGS TO KNOW
DON’T MISS THIS
This weekend we talked about baptisms in the weekend service November 9/10. This is a great opportunity to talk with your group about baptism, see if anyone is getting baptized and talk about how to support each other. For more information, visit adabible.org/baptism.
GROUP VALUES
A safe environment is crucial to a healthy group. Building trust is a crucial element of a safe environment. As a leader, consider the level of trust in your group and how you can help nurture it.
GROW AS A LEADER
Leader Modules are an amazing tool to help you grow as a great small group leader. If you haven’t started the modules yet, go to learning.adabible.org/small-groups.
DISCUSSION GUIDE
Welcome to the fourth week of our fall series, Strength for the Journey. This week’s conversation centers around the Bereans’ response to Paul’s gospel message.
What’s the longest walk you have ever taken? What was it for?
Have someone from your group read Acts 17:10-15 aloud. Recap this story in your own words.
OPEN TO GOD
How does the passage describe the Bereans? Why do you think it describes them this way?
How does the attitude of the Bereans show that they were open to God? What do you think Paul talked about?
Do you feel like someone would describe our culture as having noble character? What would noble character look like in our lives today?
The Bereans were open to the movement of God in their life. What are some ways we can be open to the movement of God in our lives? What’s one step you can this week to be open to the movement of God?
ANCHORED IN THE SCRIPTURES
How do the Bereans make their decisions? Why do you think this is significant?
Do you feel like people still care about what the Bible says about things? What are some of the things people today commonly anchor their decisions on?
How can we know what the Bible says about some of the more difficult issues of our day?
How can our Chair Time help us be anchored? What about our small group?
Do you feel like you make decisions based on what the Bible says or something else? How can we try to remember to think about God when making decisions?
READY TO SERVE
How do the Bereans show their belief through their actions? What other characters so far in this series have followed up belief in God with actions?
What’s the difference between action to earn God’s favor and action springing from a thankfulness for what God has done for us?
How does reflection on what Jesus has done for us compel us to take action? Who is someone you know who displays this well?
What is one thing God is calling you to take action on today?
WRAP UP
This week we talked about how the Bereans were to God, anchored in the Scriptures and ready to serve. Which one was most impactful to you as you reflect on your life? How can you grow in that area?
