THREE THINGS TO KNOW

DON’T MISS THIS

Thank you for being a part of our Ada Bible community. Whether you attend in person or online, we would love to learn more about how you engage with our church. Please take a moment to answer a few questions at adabible.org/churchsurvey. Be sure to encourage those in your group to fill it out too.

GROUP VALUES

This month we are focused on the group value of service. Did you know we created a recap of our serving huddle from last spring? Find some great tips on serving as a group in that recap at learning.adabible.org/course/recap-spring-huddle-2021.

GROW AS A LEADER

Our Fall Small Group Leader Huddle is coming up Sunday, November 7. Gather together with other small group leaders who are on the same journey. Leader Huddles are a place where you can connect with other leaders and talk about how to become a better leader. Register at adabible.org/smallgrouphuddle.

DISCUSSION GUIDE

This week we start the sermon series, 26 DAYS OF GRATITUDE. Today’s discussion is about developing the habit of gratitude and seeing God’s goodness in his provision of food.

Choose one and explain why: chocolate or fruity candy.

Read Psalm 104:13-15 aloud. What stands out to you?

A REASON FOR GRATITUDE

What three food items is the Psalmist grateful for in Psalm 104:15?

How were those three items dependent upon God’s provision in Israel?

God’s goodness is demonstrated through the wonder of his creation. We see it in the different colors, combinations and textures on our tables. What’s one of your favorite foods and how does it demonstrate the goodness of God?

How can being grateful to God when we sit down to a meal draw our heart closer to God?

THE HABIT OF GRATITUDE

Read Psalm 104:1 aloud. Why do you think the Psalmist has to tell himself to praise the Lord?

Read Deuteronomy 8:10-18 aloud. Why do you think God is giving the Israelites these instructions?

It can be easy to look at the food on our table and think we provided that (because we did play a part). What are some of the ways God played a part in providing our food?

How can downplaying the role of God in our lives lead to more complaining and whining?

Where in your life do you find yourself downplaying or forgetting that God played a role?

THE ENEMY OF GRATITUDE

1 Thessalonians 5:18a says, “Give thanks in all circumstances.” People can often think they will naturally express gratitude once something good happens. How is that different than developing a discipline of gratitude?

Pastor Jeff Manion challenged us to write down three things we are grateful for each day for the 26 days leading up to Thanksgiving. What are some ways embracing this discipline might shape our hearts?

How can your group participate in the 26 DAYS OF GRATITUDE together?

WRAP UP

This week we discussed the importance of gratitude in shaping our hearts. Share with your group something you are grateful for today or a previous day of the 26 DAYS OF GRATITUDE.
