THREE THINGS TO KNOW

DON’T MISS THIS

GIVING TABLES are going on through November 19. Each campus is supporting a local non-profit. It’s easy for you or your group to serve others in our community. For a list of items at each campus, check out the Giving Tables by campus at adabible.org/givingtables.

GROUP VALUES

For November, we’re focusing on the group value of PRAYER. Consider the role prayer plays in your small group and outside of the group. Discuss how your group can be a community that makes prayer for each other a regular part of your daily routine.

GROW AS A LEADER

Have you had a 1-ON-1 WITH YOUR STAFF CONTACT? Now is a great time to reconnect with your staff contact to feel supported, as your group has been meeting this fall. Reach out to your staff contact this week to share something happening in your group and set something up.

DISCUSSION GUIDE

Welcome to the last week of our sermon series, REBUILD. This week, we look at the end of Nehemiah’s rebuild and the challenge of keeping focus when distractions and challenges arise.

What’s your favorite Thanksgiving dish and why?

THIS WEEK’S TEXT

Optional: Have everyone read Nehemiah 5 & 6 to themselves. Then, have a few in your group read Nehemiah 5:14-19 and Nehemiah 6:10-16 out loud.

What were the key issues Nehemiah had to address in Nehemiah 5?

Who were Nehemiah’s opponents in Nehemiah 6, and what were their tactics?

How did Nehemiah continue his work despite the challenges in Nehemiah 6?

THIS WEEK’S SERMON

This week, Pastor Jeff Manion talked about the distractions and threats that can cause us to lose focus during a rebuild. As a group, name the main points of the sermon.

Which part of the sermon encouraged or challenged you the most, and why?

What are some common sources of distraction, even if they are good things, that can divert people’s attention from spiritual momentum?

What are some things we can do to eliminate the distractions that threaten our rebuilds and spiritual momentum?

Nehemiah knows the internal conflict among people building the wall threatens the rebuild. Jesus also talks about the importance of our relationships with each other. What does Jesus say, and how does that encourage or challenge you?

Where do you need to begin or continue specializing in forgiveness and repairing relationships?

How would following Jesus’s response to Judas’s betrayal change our responses to betrayal?

What does radical generosity look like in your life right now, and what would you like it to look like in the future?

Who is someone or something that inspires you to be radically generous? What is a step you can take toward radical generosity?

Is there anything else from this sermon you wanted to talk about?

WRAP UP

Today, we discussed how internal and external distractions can threaten rebuilds and our spiritual momentum. What is one thing from this sermon series you want to remember as you rebuild?
