THREE THINGS TO KNOW

DON’T MISS THIS

We start a new sermon series next week called THE DWELLING PLACE. God wants to be with us. In our imperfection, he wants to be in our midst. THE DWELLING PLACE explores God’s desire to be with his people throughout the Bible. Starts November 27/28 in person and online.

GROUP VALUES

This month we are focused on the group value of Stories. Small Groups are a place where we are both known and loved. Share a favorite Thanksgiving memory with your group.

GROW AS A LEADER

Huddles are a great way to grow as a leader and to invest in other leaders. Didn’t make the huddle or want a refresher on the key points, watch the Huddle Recap available now on our Small Group Leader training platform. Find the recap at learning.adabible.org/course/fall2021.

DISCUSSION GUIDE

Welcome to the final week of the sermon series, 26 DAYS OF GRATITUDE. Today’s discussion focuses on the spiritual blessings we have in Christ.

What’s something you included in your gratitude list from last week that’s a food, person or struggle?

Have someone read Ephesians 1:3-14 aloud. What are some possible spiritual blessings in this passage?

YOU ADOPTED ME

Pastor Aaron Buer said that our identity shapes everything in our life. Share with the group why you agree or disagree.

Why would the idea of adoption be meaningful to the Jesus-followers in Ephesus?

Pastor Aaron Buer shared a funny story about struggling with his identity. What stories come to mind about things you’ve done to try to show you are somebody?

We often try to find our identity in what we’ve done. What’s something you “hang on the wall” to try to prove your worth to those around you??

God adopted us into his family. He chose us. How does being adopted by God shape your identity?

YOU REDEEMED ME

What does it mean to redeem something?

According to Ephesians 1:7, what was the price for our redemption?

We may not experience physical shackles, but can find ourselves mentally or emotionally shackled because of behavior we later regret. How have you experienced this in your life?

How could our mindset change so we can live in our present identity instead of our past if we regularly thanked God for redeeming us?

YOU SEALED ME

What was the significance of sealing in the ancient world?

What do you think “deposit guaranteeing our inheritance” means?

How can the hope and security of being sealed by the Holy Spirit help us live out of our God-given identity?

26 DAYS OF GRATITUDE

What’s something you’ve learned from the 26 DAYS OF GRATITUDE?

How are you hoping to include gratitude into your life moving forward?

WRAP UP

This week we discussed the spiritual blessings we have in Christ. What’s one thing you want to do to remember to be grateful for the spiritual blessings?
