THREE THINGS TO KNOW

DON’T MISS THIS

EASTER SERVICES are a great time to start serving at Ada Bible Church and show hospitality to visitors and other community members. We have opportunities for individuals, families, and groups. You can serve with our hospitality team, coffee ministry, facilities team, and more. Find opportunities and sign up to serve HERE.

GROUP VALUES

This March, we focus on SERVING. Will you reach out to someone in the community or an organization where you can serve? Consider having one person in the group champion a project day for everyone to help with.

GROW AS A LEADER

HUDDLES are happening over the next couple of weeks. If you haven’t registered yet, reach out to your staff contact for the information.

DISCUSSION GUIDE

Welcome to the first week of our new sermon series THE ROAD TO RESURRECTION. This week we look at Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem and how this scene reveals Jesus’s identity.

ICEBREAKER

What is one of your favorite Easter traditions or activities?

THIS WEEK’S TEXT

Have someone read Matthew 21:1-11 and Luke 19:39-44 aloud.

What details stand out to you about how Jesus entered Jerusalem?

How does the crowd respond to Jesus, and what might this show about what they expect from him?

What do you think Jesus’s entry signals about his mission?

THIS WEEK’S SERMON

Pastor Aaron Buer taught about Jesus’s triumphal entry and how this scene reveals who Jesus is and how his identity should affect our lives. As a group, recall some of the sermon’s big ideas or main points.

What are some ways people in our culture seek power, status or “victory” over others?

The crowds wanted Jesus to be their kind of savior and king, but they missed his true mission. How do you see the same tendency among Jesus’s followers today?

How can we keep the gospel of Jesus as our primary focus, resisting the temptation to make secondary issues (politics, power, etc.) higher priorities?

Making Jesus our king means that we follow him to get where he is going, not to get where we are going. How can we realign our desires and expectations to be in step with Jesus’s mission?

Making Jesus our king means going and doing as he has instructed us in Scripture. What is something you need to go and do this week (share the gospel, apologize to someone, confess a sin, serve someone, etc.)?

Is there a situation or relationship in your life where you must let go of wanting your version of victory or deliverance and trust in God’s greater purposes?

What would having an “even if” posture in that situation or relationship look like?

What are practical ways you can “take up your cross” this week to follow Jesus and live with servanthood and sacrifice?

Which part of the sermon encouraged or challenged you the most, and why?

WRAP UP

This week we learned about Jesus as King, Savior and Victor. Which do you most need to focus on in this season and why?
