THREE THINGS TO KNOW
DON’T MISS THIS
Check out a new Ada Bible Men’s Ministry on-demand video! This year might feel like all pain and shouting. It’s definitely a year like we’ve never experienced before. What can men do to navigate difficult seasons well? We sat down with three guys to answer this question. Watch Navigating Challenging Seasons at this link.
GROUP VALUES
Prayer is an essential part of all of our lives of faith, but sometimes it can be challenging to get to prayer in our small groups. Plan a week where your group can pray for each other and use different ways to pray to listen and wait on the Lord. We even have a prayer guide you could use that will walk you through it. Check out the Chair Time prayer guide at adabible.org/prayerguide.

DISCUSSION GUIDE
Welcome to the third week of our series Honest to God. This week’s conversation is about how we can honestly talk to God about the unjust things in this world around us.
It has been pretty close to a year since the pandemic has impacted our lives. What’s one high and one low from the last year?
Have someone read Psalm 10 aloud. What are some striking or unexpected parts of this Psalm? What different emotions do you see here?
TELL GOD HOW YOU FEEL
Reread Psalm 10:2-6. The writer of this psalm is bothered by some things he sees in the world. Why can it be frustrating when people prosper who have a callous disregard for God and others?
We’ve defined lament as “God, things are not ok, and we need to talk.” What are some of the things you see in the world or your life that you’re bothered by and want to talk to God about?
Pastor Aaron Buer reminded us that lamenting isn’t just something we can or should do, but it’s something we need to do. How can lament give us a pathway through the pain of what is going on in the world?
TELL GOD WHAT YOU WANT
Read Psalm 10:12 aloud from a few different translations. How do you feel about talking to God that way?
Have someone read Hebrews 4:15-16 aloud. It says we can approach God with confidence. What are some ways you can approach God with confidence, specifically with difficult situations you face or problems with the world?
TELL GOD THAT YOU TRUST
The psalmist may not have seen justice in his lifetime, and we don’t always see it either. But, the psalmist tells us God sees the suffering and the pain. How can knowing God’s character in this way help us move through difficult seasons?
Read Isaiah 53:3-5. How does knowing Jesus “took up our pain and bore our suffering” help us trust him in seasons of uncertainty or crisis?
WRAP UP
This week’s conversation shows us three God-given steps in a conversation with God about what’s going on in the world. As a group, practice using the steps. Share with the group and God something from the world you don’t like, boldly tell God what you want and then let God know that you still trust.
