THREE THINGS TO KNOW

DON’T MISS THIS

Looking for a way to serve this summer? Join others for our LOCAL MISSIONS SHORT-TERM SMALL GROUP to serve community ministries. Groups are six weeks long. We have various projects available, and you’ll work directly with Grand Rapids area ministries. Sign up at adabible.org/info/upcoming-events.

GROUP VALUES

This June, we’re focusing on CARE. We believe care is a core part of sharing life with others. The Bible calls us to care for one another, and Ada Bible small groups are one of the best places for receiving and extending care at our church. Discuss what it means to care for each other.

GROW AS A LEADER

DISCUSSION GUIDE

Welcome to the sixth week in our sermon series, ENCOUNTERS WITH JESUS. This week we consider the story of the rich fool found in Luke 12.

What was a highlight from your past week?

THIS WEEK’S TEXT

Have someone read Luke 12:13-21 aloud.

What is the tone of this passage, and how do you think that impacted the listeners?

What does this story reveal about the dangers of wealth?

What is something else you find striking or interesting in this passage?

THIS WEEK’S SERMON

Pastor Jeff Manion talked about the story of the rich fool and the dangers of wealth. As a group, name his main points.

Which point stood out to you the most, and why?

Jesus’s story warns us about the dangers of greed. What are some examples of greed we see in the world today?

Where might you be most tempted by greed?

Have someone read John 10:10. Where does Jesus say a full life comes from, and what do you think that means?

The man became self-focused in his approach to money and possessions. Discuss how you can help each other guard against this mindset.

What is one action step you could take this coming week to live in a way that recognizes your money and stuff aren’t just for you and instead live “rich toward God” (Luke 12:21)?

Is there anything else about the sermon you wanted to talk about?
