THREE THINGS TO KNOW

DON’T MISS THIS

Ada Bible is planning to launch a limited, in-person video service at 9 am at each campus with a target date of July 26. The addition of in-person video services means varying comfort & safety levels in your own group. Talk together about how you can keep conversations kind, focusing on empathy and unity as you respectfully engage with others who feel or think differently than you.

GROUP VALUES

This month we are highlighting Spiritual Practices. As a leader, you can highlight the value of spiritual practices to your group by asking your group about their Chair Time and sharing yours.

GROW AS A LEADER

Did you know we have a  Small Group Leaders Facebook group? If you haven’t joined, jump in today and share a picture of your group, something you have learned as a leader or a way your group has served together!

DISCUSSION GUIDE

Welcome to week one of our new series, Jesus Wisdom. This week we’re challenged to look at bold statements Jesus made about himself.

The invention of the light bulb has transformed our world.  What would be the biggest change for you if you couldn’t use any light bulbs tomorrow?

Read John 1:1-13 aloud.  What stands out to you?

BELIEVE IN THE LIGHT

Pastor Aaron Buer said the core of Christianity is believing who Jesus is. Who is John claiming Jesus is in John 1:1-5?

How does what John says—about those who receive and believe in Jesus—give us hope?

Being a Christian isn’t about moving from “ok” to “better.” It’s not that we’re basically a decent person and Jesus makes us better. It’s about Jesus transforming us from dead to alive. Have one or two people share about when and why they began to believe in Jesus.

FOLLOW THE LIGHT

Jesus says, “I am the light of the world” in John 8:12. He makes this statement in the midst of a religious celebration. How would that context have influenced the way the Jewish people interpreted Jesus’ statement?

Our culture has lots of voices trying to get us to follow them. We even use the term “follow” on different social media platforms. What are some regular habits we can establish to follow Jesus instead of the cultural voices?

Jesus said those who follow him will have life (John 8:12). How have you experienced the life Jesus is talking about by following him?

WRAP UP

This week we talked about the importance of believing in and following Jesus, which is the core of Christianity.  What’s one step you can take to believe in or follow Jesus this week?
