THREE THINGS TO KNOW

DON’T MISS THIS

Join other women from your campus to learn what it means to have UNSHAKEABLE MOXIE—courage and determination to stay strong in Jesus no matter what. THRIVE GATHERING is February 23 at 7 PM at all campuses. Details and signup at adabible.org/thrive-gathering.

GROUP VALUES

For February, we’re focusing on the group value of Prayer. It can be easy to ask God to change our circumstances but more challenging to see how God wants to transform us through what is happening. Have a conversation with your group about how you can pray for each other to be transformed more like Jesus, even if your difficult situation doesn’t change.

GROW AS A LEADER

Have you checked out our Small Groups Leaders Facebook Page recently? This group is a great place to connect with leaders from other campuses, ask questions and learn together. Join us at facebook.com/groups/adasmallgroupleaders.

DISCUSSION GUIDE

Welcome to the first week of our series called GOSPEL CHANGE. We discuss today how the deeper we go into the Gospel, the more it will transform us into the people God created us to be.

What is something you do to enjoy winter?

Have someone read Ephesians 2:4-7 out loud. What words stand out to you and why?

THE LADDER

Pastor Jeff Manion used a ladder image to encourage us to think about our goodness and where we see ourselves in relation to God. What stood out to you about this image?

Understanding the Gospel—what Jesus already did for us—frees us from trying to earn God’s love. What do people do to try to earn God’s love and acceptance?

How does it impact you to know that because of your faith and trust in Jesus, God sees you at the very top of the ladder—completely loved, forgiven and accepted?

THE GREAT TRANSFER

Have someone read 1 Peter 3:18 out loud. What does Peter say Jesus has done for us?

Pastor Jeff described a double transfer that happens when we believe in Jesus. Discuss this transfer as a group. What did Jesus take from us, and what did he give to us?

What kinds of behavior are you prone to fall into when you forget your identity in Christ is that you are infinitely loved, treasured and secure?

GOSPEL CHANGE

Have someone read Ephesians 4:32, 5:1-2. In what areas do you struggle to forgive others, and how does understanding God’s forgiveness empower you to forgive?

How might our love for others be transformed if we lived out of the deep well of God’s love for us?

Have someone read Ephesians 5:25. What should motivate a husband’s love for his wife, and how is that different from what culture says?

Have someone read 2 Corinthians 8:9. The Apostle Paul urges believers to be generous because of God’s generosity toward them. Why do we struggle to be generous with our time, talent and resources?

Accepting and understanding God’s love through Jesus will change us over time. How can our group help each other remember and live out the great love of God through Jesus?

WRAP UP

Today we discussed how understanding the Gospel and what Jesus has already done for us will shape us into the people God created us to be. What stood out to you in this discussion, and how can your group pray for you this week?
