DISCUSSION GUIDE

Welcome to week four of our summer series, Jesus Wisdom. This week we discuss Jesus and love.

What do you think your life will look like this fall?

Read John 13:34-35 aloud.  What stands out to you?

JESUS WAS LOVED

In John 15:9a, Jesus says, “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.” Why do you think it is so significant that Jesus knew his heavenly Father loved him?

Love is part of the nature of God. What are some ways you receive God’s love in your life?

JESUS GAVE LOVE

Jesus says, “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.” Jesus loved his disciples. John referred to himself as “the disciple Jesus loved.” Why do you think he might have called himself that?

How would life be different if we redefined our identity as “the one Jesus loves”?

JESUS COMMANDS LOVE

Jesus tells us to love each other as he loved. How do Jesus’ actions set a very high bar for the way we love?

Biblical love isn’t about feelings, but about actions. How has the fractured nature of our culture made it even more important for Christians to love others?

Love is a decision. How can we love and be kind to those we disagree with?

WRAP UP

This week we talked about Jesus and love. What’s one way you want to focus on showing love to those around you this week?
