April 18/19 The Wisdom Challenge

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

DON’T MISS THIS

Join together as a church community for The Wisdom Challenge. READ the chapter with the day of the month. For example, read Proverbs 20 on April 20. WRITE one proverb from the day’s reading in a journal or on a 3×5 card to meditate on it throughout the day. SHARE this proverb with someone. Sharing God’s Word with others reinforces it in our hearts and makes it a community event.

GROUP VALUES

This month we are focused on formative conversations.  This series will be full of practical advice. Consider how to lean into both community-building and quality conversations about the sermon in your group.

GROW AS A LEADER

Leaders are awesome—and we want to encourage and equip you. One of the ways we do this is through the online learning environment. Currently, there are three modules designed to help you as a leader: Leading a Group 101, Reading and Understanding the Bible, and The Gospel. Join at learning.adabible.org/small-groups.

DISCUSSION GUIDE

Welcome to Week 1 of our spring sermon series, The Way of the Wise. We begin this week digging into the Proverbs and learning what it means to choose our path wisely.

Have you ever gone on a road trip? Where did you go and what are your favorite memories of the trip?

THE WAY

Have someone read Proverbs 4:10-17 and pay attention to every time it says way or path. How do the small choices we make lead us down a path?

How have choices you made in the past led you to where you are now, both positively or negatively?

WORDS

Read Proverbs 12:18. When have you experienced reckless words or healing words?

Jesus tells us in Luke 6 that our mouth speaks from what our heart is full of. What are some ways to fill our hearts with what we need, so our mouth speaks truth and life?

Read Proverbs 15:1. The response can spoil the evening. What are some positive ways to respond to a problematic situation that can help diffuse the conversation instead?

FRIENDS

Read Proverbs 22:24-25. Our friendships can help us on our path or steer us in the wrong direction. How have you seen this in your own life?

TIME

Read Proverbs 6:6-8.  How are you feeling challenged by the lack of time or different pace of work in this season?

#AdaWisdomChallenge

Pastor Jeff Manion encouraged us to read, write and share. How can our group embrace The Wisdom Challenge together and encourage each other these next ten weeks?

WRAP UP

This week we started talking about wisdom from Proverbs and how our daily habits impact our path. What is most challenging about this? What is one step you are planning on implementing this week?
