Brookside Christian Reformed Church is seeking a Worship Coordinator who will plan and produce worship services in collaboration with the Lead Pastor and those scheduled to lead music for a particular worship service.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

       Plan and prepare the worship services along with the Lead Pastor and lead musicians.

o   Meet weekly with the Lead Pastor and scheduled lead musician(s) to facilitate worship planning.

o   Work with the Lead Pastor and lead musician(s) to develop each worship service per the scriptural theme the pastor establishes.

o   Work with the lead musician(s) and pastor to ensure the effectiveness and appropriateness of music of each worship service according to the music style and songs the lead musician(s) selects.

o   Assist the pastor and musicians with weekday rehearsals and Sunday worship service preparation and production to ensure a good worship experience for our volunteers, members, and guests.

 

        Plan and prepare for the audio-visual needs of the worship services

o   Oversee the schedule of audio/visual volunteers for all services using Planning Center

o   Oversee the creation and management of Google Slides (PowerPoint) presentations used in worship services

o   Develop an overall understanding of the sound, video, and streaming aspects of our Sunday morning experience, codifying and communicating best practices and principles for our tech-audio-visual volunteers.

o   Be available as needed to provide audio-visual and musical support during worship rehearsals.

 

       Provide logistical support for worship planning and production

o   Maintain the worship Planning Center schedule and order of services in cooperation with the lead pastor and musicians

o   Work alongside the lead musician(s) in recruiting and scheduling instrumentalists, vocalists, and accompanists.

o   Ensure that the church’s instruments are in good repair and tuned on a regular schedule

o   Promote and coordinate members’ direct involvement in providing for appropriate worship center decor in keeping with the liturgical season.

o   Report copyright usage as appropriate and assist with using SongSelect and other resources to secure music. 

o   Coordinate with our IT and administrative staff to ensure good worship communication in our varied media.

        Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

      An understanding and/or a commitment to learning and growing in Reformed worship’s traditional and contemporary practices.

      A proven ability to work well with a team concept of authority and responsibility

      Office or technical skills

      Google applications (docs, slides, meets etc)

      Planning Center skills or willingness to learn

      Ability to manage administrative and organizational tasks

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

         Musical training and experience on an instrument or voice

o   Experience and/or education on leading worship with an instrument or voice

o   Ability to work with various musical styles (traditional and contemporary) and an appreciation and understanding of varied musical approaches to worship.

o   Knowledge and appreciation for traditional Reformed worship principles, but also emerging, contemporary Reformed worship principles

        Experience and/or education in worship planning and leading

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

        Sitting for prolonged periods of time.

        Occasional light lifting or carrying of items up to 25 lbs.

        Frequent standing and/or walking, bending, reaching, pushing and/or pulling

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

        Infectious love for the Lord.

        Demonstrated ability to organize, lead, and encourage others.

        Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing within and beyond the church.

        A current member of a Christian Church and willing to become a member of Brookside
