About Us

The District is a specialty coffee shop in a restored 1909 schoolhouse in Dorr, Michigan. We take our craft seriously and our people even more so — this is a place where community and quality coffee come together. We're looking for a barista to join our team and help keep the bar running strong through the day.

Shift

Mid-shift coverage, typically late morning through early-to-mid afternoon, Monday–Saturday. Exact days/hours discussed at interview based on availability and business need.

What You'll Do

• Prepare espresso drinks, coffee, and tea to our recipe and quality standards
• Run the register and take food/drink orders with warmth and speed
• Build and serve our food menu items to spec
• Keep the bar, food station, and dining area clean and stocked throughout your shift
• Restock proactively — don't wait to be asked
• Communicate clearly with teammates during handoffs
• Represent The District's hospitality standard with every guest, every time

Room to Grow

We start every new hire on mid-shift so you can build a strong foundation without the pressure of opening or closing. As you train up and show consistency, more scheduling flexibility opens up — including opening and closing shifts.

We hire for character first, skills second. You don't need barista experience — we'll train you on the craft. What we can't train is:

Requirements

• Must be 18 or older
• Available for mid-shift hours, Monday–Saturday
• Comfortable on your feet for a full shift
• Reliable transportation
