Rope Craftsman – Part Time
About You
The Rope Craftsman is a member of a team of 3-5 highly-motivated, hard-working individuals focused on getting customers the right rope for their next project. You like active, physical, hands-on work and you can lift 75+ pounds. You have the strength to twist and untwist thick rope with your hands. You are also good at math and can use numbers to solve problems and determine measurements.
You thrive in the energy and hustle of a start-up business and you have a positive, can-do attitude. You know hard work and integrity are the keys to success and you want to be a part of a growing company where your effort can lead to advancement. You want to grow your skills, grow in your career, and work with good people.
Summary
The Rope Craftsman is a critical role in the warehouse operations at Right Rope. Your job is to use your hands to fabricate custom rope ends for daily online orders. You will splice a loop into the ends of various kinds of rope to make dock lines, cable pulling ropes, arborist ropes, ropes to hang bed swings, and more.
You thrive in a production environment and can make a new rope-end every 5 to 15 minutes. You pull, splice, cut, coil and ship rope in packages small enough to fit in a mailbox or big enough for freight shipping. You use hand-tools such as fids, loppers, hot-cutters, measuring tape, and box cutters to prepare and ship orders the same-day. Your fast-movement, attention to detail, and good judgment allows you to proactively delight customers and minimize returns.
You’re a good team player and always looking for ways to improve your productivity. You like to work-ahead and help ease the burden on your team by stocking pre-cut coils of frequently-ordered rope.
When large shipments of rope arrive, you are eager to help unload freight using a pallet jack or forklift and you help break down pallets to store rope strategically in the warehouse. You like to keep a clean working environment so everyone can move efficiently. You pitch in when you see a need without being asked because you care about the team.
