Position Summary

Ensure complete, thorough, and successful alignment of marketing projects with the ministry’s strategic goals, constructing detailed work plans, coordinating teams, achieving milestones, and communicating results to stakeholders. 

Essential Functions

  • Manage multiple ministry projects as assigned from inception to completion.
  • Work with all aspects of the Marketing Department and appropriate ministry teams to develop and establish project plans, requirements, deliverables, and deadlines that move the ministry toward meeting its strategic goals.
  • Exercise the ability to articulate and communicate the marketing vision, purpose, and positioning of projects. Coordinate communication among various teams and with outside vendors to ensure complete understanding of project plans, requirements, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Identify, track, and report on each project’s scope, timeframe, and cost. Develop specific process flows for each project and make recommendations on process improvements.
  • Work with print marketing and design teams, digital marketing, IS, production, customer service and others collaboratively to provide clarity, efficiency, and thorough completion of projects.
  • Expected functions will also involve some aspects of digital marketing, including but not be limited to assisting with the project management of ministry campaigns and projects that include a combination of print and digital components.
  • Be thorough in knowledge of the product, target audience, and competitor activity in the market. Brainstorm ideas and concepts with marketing teams and individuals involved in specific projects and campaigns.
  • Responsible for successfully planning and ensuring all marketing collateral projects are delivered on time and with excellence, including coordinating marketing copy needs for products, websites, social media channels, brochures, promotional videos, and any other forms of advertising, promotion, and content marketing.
  • In tandem with the appropriate marketing stakeholder, coordinate ongoing research efforts around current and future segments, audience needs and audience behavior to create relevant, compelling, and differentiating communication.
  • Assist and backup other Marketing Project Managers as needed.

 

Study or Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, corporate journalism, or similar area of study required.
  • Project Management Professional, (PMP) Marketing Project Management and/or Agile/SAFe certification or equivalent experience preferred. 
  • Experience with marketing in the publishing or other content-based industry is preferred but not required.
  • At least two years of professional experience in marketing planning and execution.
  • Must be capable of strategic and tactical planning within a marketing framework.
  • Print and digital marketing competencies and understanding of analytics are required (web, social media, email, newsletters, direct mail, etc.)
  • Must be capable of coordinating multiple marketing efforts and keep track of the details for several simultaneous projects.
  • Demonstrate ability to be a self-starter and assertive in dealing with individuals/groups/vendors.
  • Able to set agendas and coordinate and lead meetings as necessary to maintain deadlines and approvals for all projects.
  • Capable of excellent diplomatic oral/written communication skills including knowledge and ability to negotiate depending upon need.

Internal Work Environment

  • Must be capable of diplomatic partnership style communication with the assigned ministry effort team(s).
  • Persuasion, discretion, and tact needed to educate and gain support for complex marketing efforts with individuals and/or groups throughout the organization.  

 

External Work Environment

  • High degree of communication required in networking with other organizations, consultants and vendors. Professionalism, assertiveness, tact, and persuasion required.
  • Responsible for decisions that will affect how our public views of the ministry.

 

Leadership Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the Director of Marketing & Sales, Director of Marketing Operations & Member Engagement, Senior Manager of Media Marketing, Discovery Series content team, Church Engagement Marketing Director, or Human Resources representative, depending on the type of project, manage marketing execution for all approved projects and other projects as assigned by the Director of Marketing Communications and Project Management.

 

Stewardship of Resources

  • Along with other team members associated Discovery Series, Church Engagement/Ambassadors, Our Daily Bread, Our Daily Bread Publishing, Our Daily Bread Films, and Human Resources, responsible for the continued success of brands and related marketing efforts. 

 

Miscellaneous: Some travel might be required.
