Job Title: Print Services – Operator Level 2 – 1st Shift

Grade: 8

Work Team: Print Services (Press, Print Finishing, & Fulfillment)

Job Code: Non-exempt

Longevity Requirement:  2 years

Position Summary:

Operate a variety of bindery/finishing/mailing/fulfillment machines & equipment. A level 2 operator certification requires: 
1) Operator Level 1 certification and experience
2) Completion of one machine center training program (Examples = Cutter, Folder, Stitcher, Inserter)


Essential Functions:

1. Operate and assist from a variety of bindery/finishing/mailing/fulfillment equipment (including cutter, folder, stitcher, inserter, boxer, etc). Machine operators must have a strong command of product specifications, item codes, machine parameters, and print services workflow.

 

2. Assist with minor maintenance and repairs of equipment. Maintain frequent upkeep of machinery (including cleaning, lubrication, and minor adjustments). Operators must be able to quickly troubleshoot machine malfunctions and material quality issues.

 3. Intermediate computer skills and understanding of Production/Scheduling systems are imperative in this role (Avanti Slingshot, Prod Schedule, WMS). Operators are responsible for tracking chargeable and non-chargeable time within their machine and cost center.

4. Provide fulfillment and warehousing of finished goods inventory, and work in progress (WIP). Prepare and complete necessary paperwork. 

5. Responsible for quality control of vendor supplied materials, in-house produced materials and integrity of completed products.

6. Track and communicate statistics that apply to daily production and maintenance issues.

7. Flexibility to adapt to the ever changing processes of print, finishing, fulfillment, and mailing procedures.

8. Package orders/materials appropriately per customer (internal & external) requirements.  Involves the use of various packaging & mailing methods based on the shipping carrier.

9. Assist with material replenishment by use of pallet jack or forklift. 

 

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

 

Job Title: Print Services Operator Level 2 – Machine Operator  

 

Study or Knowledge and Experience:

One year of technical training in machine operating field. 

Completion of ODB Print Services Operator Level 1 training.
Completion of ODB Print Services machine training program on one major piece of equipment.
Ability to complete HILO training and obtain forklift license. 

Mechanical aptitude/dexterity.

High attention to detail.

Two years of experience in a high volume, fast paced production environment.

Basic computer skills necessary. 

Strive to live a life consistent with Biblical principles and demonstrate continued growth and spiritual development.

 

Internal Work Environment:

Works with other machine operators, assistant operators, maintenance engineers, and warehouse clerks. 

 

External Communication Requirements:

Communication with manager, lead operator, machine operators, maintenance engineers and warehouse clerks.

 

Leadership Responsibility:

No direct reports.

Stewardship of Resources:
Responsible for the safe operation of ministry machines and equipment. Mailing/postage integrity. 

Miscellaneous Factors:

On feet fulltime.

Frequent bending, pulling, lifting, and twisting.

Repetitive motion.

Strict mailing/product integrity (safety, quality, quantity, and on time performance).

Working with/in/around dangerous machinery/equipment.
