Food Service - Part-time

Classification:               Part Time Hourly

Reports To:                   Director of Ministries and Food Service Director

Direct Reports:             Part time Kitchen Staff

Pay Rate:                     $12-15/hr. based on experience

 

Position Summary

The cook works directly for the Director of Ministries and Food Service Director. They shall primarily be responsible for preparing and serving high quality food; ensuring on-time, high quality service, communicating food and housekeeping supply needs, properly storing and organizing food leftover from events; leadership for the kitchen staff on duty; and the maintenance and cleaning of all kitchen equipment.

 

Key Job Functions

Food Service Leadership

  • Is responsible for safety of food, campers, and staff when in food service areas.
  • Consistently prepares and serves high quality food for campers and staff.
  • Coordinates mealtimes and menus with the Director of Ministries
  • Communicates food and supply needs with the Director of Ministries.
  • Recommends kitchen facility and kitchen procedure improvements to Director of Ministries.
  • Is responsible for proper maintenance and cleaning of food service equipment.
  • Coordinates work of cooks, food preparation, storage of food, disposal of garbage, sanitation of kitchen, packing of food to go on trips, wise use of leftovers, use of kitchen, and inventory control.

Other Duties

  • A staff member in a small organization like Pine Ridge is often called upon to perform a wide variety of duties. This may include many of the following duties (not an exhaustive list):
    • Assisting with maintenance duties like repairs, construction, landscaping, and lawn care.
    • Assisting with housekeeping duties like cleaning, sweeping, and mopping. 

General Qualifications

  • Agrees with the philosophies, policies, and procedures of Pine Ridge Bible Camp.
  • Has a sincere love for the Lord and a desire to see campers come to know and grow in Him.
  • Is willing to forego personal rights for the common good of the camp and camper.
  • Is flexible and able to work with campers and other staff members.
  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Be in good standing with a local church.

Specific Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Should have previous experience in quantity food service or equivalent training.
  • Must have current ServSafe Food Safety Manager certification or be willing to be certified.
  • Needs to be energetic, is self-disciplined and self-motivated, and willing to meet the demands of a three-meal per day operation.
  • Attends other training assignments as directed by the Director of Ministries.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift, bend, and twist.
  • Ability to push and pull loads.
  • Must be able to lift frequently up to 35 lbs.; occasionally 35-100 lbs. with assistance
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Auditory ability to hear and understand conversational levels of sound in an ordinary office environment.

5:00pm-   Arrive and Prep Dinner/Kitchen

7:00pm-   Dinner

9:00pm-   Head Home

 

Saturday:

7:00am-   Arrive and Prep Breakfast

8:00am-   Breakfast

10:00am- Break

11:00am- Prep Lunch

12:00pm- Lunch

2:00pm-   Break

4:00pm-   Prep Dinner

5:00pm-   Dinner

7:00pm-   Head Home

 

Sunday:

7:00am-   Arrive and Prep Breakfast

8:00am-   Breakfast

9:00am-   Ensure proper cleaning/closure of kitchen

10:30am- Head Home
