Mechanical - Full-time
Everyone likes going through the carwash (except my dog). Imagine walking or driving through a car wash designed to clean a semi-truck and trailer, a garbage truck, or city buses. Well, Hydro-Chem Systems has built over fifty systems just like that, all over the country, and we’re looking for a Traveling Service Tech to join our team and help keep them running smoothly for our clients.
This is a unique position, and we tend to hire based on aptitude and attitude more than direct experience. If you are mechanically adept, enjoy tinkering and repairing machines, and developing a wide set of skills, this could be a great position for you! Skills that you’ll use regularly include reading & communicating blueprints/technical drawings, installing electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, basic logic programing, and maintaining water heaters and pressure washers.
This is primarily a traveling position supporting our clients nationwide. We try to keep our technicians on a 2-week cycle (on the road two weeks, home/local for two weeks), but this is not always possible, and plans can change quickly based on service needs. When not traveling, this position works out of our Caledonia headquarters, preparing for future installations or doing local service work. When working locally, the schedule is usually 7:00-3:00, 35-40 hours a week. On the road, there is significant over-time, and technicians frequently work sixty hours a week. Travel time is compensated, per diem is provided, and travel/hotel expenses are taken care of directly by the company.
The position is a physically intensive one; it requires significant travel, frequent lifting and moving objects up to 70 pounds, working in confined spaces, and operating tools and machinery. Candidates should be comfortable operating in ambiguous situations and making decisions with justification for their actions. The ability to work with construction teams and contractors, communicate plans and standards, and hold outside partners accountable is key.
