General Labor - Full-time

SUMMARY:

Do you like to get your hands dirty, and occasionally the rest of yourself as well? Are you skilled at taking things apart (easy), putting them back together (harder), making them work (harder yet), and making them last (bonus!)? If so, we have a place for you!

The 1st Shift Maintenance Tech is a self-starter responsible for general repairs, routine inspections, and preventative maintenance procedures. This position works closely with other Maintenance Team members to effectively and efficiently maintain buildings, systems, components, and properties.

This is an entry-level position where aptitude is worth as much as experience. We have a campus of many quirks, so a large amount of on-the-job training will be expected for any candidate. There are also opportunities to expand and tailor the role based on performance and interest level.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform general maintenance tasks as simple as clearing drains or replacing lights, but also more in-depth plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work (as time, training, and talent allow).
  • Regularly inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify and resolve issues.
  • Work with Maintenance Team and appropriate vendors/contractors to plan and schedule repairs as needed.
  • Work with supervisor to develop, implement, and maintain preventative maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Conduct periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure proper functionality.
  • Effectively communicate status and progress updates to supervisor.
  • Assist in departmental projects as assigned.
  • Work safely and efficiently while unsupervised.
  • Share responsibility for being on-call, including periodic nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Inventory and order materials as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in building maintenance or general trades preferred.
  • Mechanical, electrical and plumbing experience are preferred.
  • Trade program certifications are not required but beneficial.
  • Excellent and proven communication skills and ability to work unsupervised.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Indoor and outdoor work in heat and dusty conditions.
  • Standing, walking, handling (constantly).
  • Pushing, pulling, reaching (frequently).
  • Climbing, squatting, kneeling, bending (frequently).
  • Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. (frequently).
  • Lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs. (occasionally).
