Mission of Staff    

The mission of the staff at Christ Memorial Church is to Outfit the Church to Influence the World.  

 Vision of Staff  

Christ Memorial Church will develop and maintain a spiritually and emotionally mature staff of professionals who will build effective volunteer ministry teams that accomplish the mission of CMC.

Position Title: Leader of Middle School Youth Ministry  

Position Status: Full time 

Reports to: Director of High School Youth Ministry  

Position focus: Encourage and equip all students to experience authentic community, deepening faith, and transformed lives; recruit, train, and lead adult volunteers to come alongside students; plan and lead creative and exciting programs/events (Blowout Youth Group, Sunday School, Missions Trips, Retreats, etc.); assist high school ministries, respond with care and love to students as they have needs.  

Works cooperatively with:     Discipleship and Engagement Teams, Director of High School Youth Ministry, Administrative Assistant for Youth Ministry  

Primary Strengths Required:  Christian character (love God and love others), leadership abilities (influencing others through service and for service), creativity (teaching Christian truths in relevant ways), relational (accessible and fun, worth talking to) and Fun (play is critical to life and building community). Musical talent to lead youth worship is a definite plus!  

Responsibilities 

  • Work toward a 5:1 ratio for every student, whereby each student in our ministry can identify at least 5 adults from the church who they know well and trust deeply. 

  • Develop opportunities for students to become stakeholders/keyholders in the church (i.e., youth leadership team, participate in corporate worship, service, etc.) 

  • Equip students to personally encounter God (through the Bible, creation, and others) and grow intentionally in their faith. Help them to see God in others so our schools, communities, and families are strengthened. 

  • Love students for who they are and help them to discover their growing identity in Christ. 

  • Help students discover their gifts and how to use them for God’s Kingdom. 

  • Attend students’ extracurricular events and/or recruit other CMC members to do so. 

  • Transition students from Wednesday night activities into the life of the church (worship, groups, service, etc.) 

  • Have fun (that’s an order!) 

Administration 

  • Plan, lead, and prep for middle school youth group; assist with high school youth group  

  • Facilitate, mentor, and provide leadership for small groups 

  • Recruit, train and organize volunteers and leaders 

  • Plan, execute, and participate in summer mission trips, experiences, and retreats throughout the year 

  • Take students out for intentional fellowship: ice cream, hot chocolate or eating together 

  • Plan and help with the profession of faith process each year 

  • Help plan details and program pieces for the youth banquet 

  • Analyze and assess departmental goals, issues, and growth areas and develop strategies to make improvements 

  • Communicate consistently with staff, congregation, and parents 

  • Budget appropriately and plan events 

  • Supervise and mentor part time staff and interns 

Essential Skills and Training 

  • Proficiency in mobile apps, Microsoft office, social media 

Recommended Schedule: 

Sunday: 8:00a-12:00p; 5:00p-8:00p. (Worship & Youth Group) 

Monday: 10:00a-5:00p 

Tuesday: 9:00a-5:00p (Staff meetings Tuesday mornings) 

Wednesday: 12:30p-8:30p (Youth group at night) 

Thursday: 10:00a-5:00p 

Friday: 

Saturday: 

Schedule is adjustable based on attending student after school activities
