Human Relations - Full-time

POSITION SUMMARY
The Human Resources Director is responsible to represent Rest Haven Homes with a high degree of character and integrity. They are accountable to God, the Residents, Team Members and the Administrator for all actions that take place within the Human Operations of Rest Haven Homes. They are responsible to promote the mission, vision, values, and culture to all Residents and staff, the community, and business partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Manage & facilitate recruiting, on-boarding, and retention of top talent
a. Advertise, receive applications, screen candidates, interview, check references and make hiring decisions in collaboration with department heads.

b. Coordinate and follow up with all new employees to ensure all necessary hiring requirements are met and documentation completed. For each employee, this includes; a criminal check, physical, drug testing, employee handbook knowledge, I-9 form, W4 forms, and new hire reporting to the State of Michigan.

c. Facilitate the on-boarding process of new employees.

2. Maintain compliance with regulatory issues relating to HR
a. Manage all Worker’s Comp process, claims, OSHA database, and annual reporting.
b. Process and maintain all FMLA claims and database
c. Monitor employee due dates for TB testing, License expiration, etc.

d. Respond to unemployment claims, employee credit checks, and employment reference checks.

3. Oversee the benefits administration
a. Manage employee benefits of Health, Dental, Vision, and Life. Work with the benefits administrator to ensure proper employee enrollment including COBRA. Answer employee questions regarding benefits.

4. Oversee salary administration
a. Manage, in cooperation with department heads, the yearly performance review program for employees.
b. Perform a yearly wage survey, analyze results, and make raise recommendations to the Administrator.

5. Respond to specific questions or problems from employees
a. Assist department heads with employee conduct issues, counseling, and necessary terminations.

6. Other Human Resources and Employee Relations Functions
a. Maintain employee computer database. Implement ongoing improvements to the database.
b. Manage the mandatory monthly in-service & web-based training initiatives.
c. Update job descriptions and the employee handbook as needed.
7. Perform special assignments as agreed upon with the Administrator.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS 

1. An individual of integrity who will promote the principles valued by Rest Haven Homes
2. Excellent interpersonal communication skills
3. Computer literate with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn other software as required.

Education & Experience
1. Experience recruiting in a healthcare (or equivalent) environment is preferred
2. Bachelor’s degree with a major in Human Resources Administration preferred OR equivalent experience with certification
3. Knowledge of state compliance and regulatory issues relating to Human Resources, employment law, wage & hour compliance
4. Leadership and Personnel Management
