Other Ministries - Part-time

Position OverviewThe Director of Music Ministries/Worship Arts is responsible for helping to create, plan, implement and oversee Christ centered worship services through music, audio visual technology, and other forms of worship arts. In partnership with the pastor, this position helps set the direction for worship services which are a blend of contemporary and traditional music and practices.

 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Organizes and coordinates year-round music programming.

  • Directly leads the Praise Band and Choir.

  • Supervises and coordinates with part-time staff (bell choir, instrumentalists, &  A/V)

  • Recruits, trains and oversees all volunteers directly involved with worship

  • Works with the Director of Family Ministries to create and co-direct student music groups, Youth Sunday, Student Christmas pageant and worship participation

  • Looks for opportunities to create new or expand existing music programs or to utilize new worship and music styles and formats to create worship services that appeal to the congregation.

  • Participates in weekly planning sessions with the pastor

  • Facilitates communication and coordination between the worship team, any music groups, any other participants in the worship service and the pastor

  • Supports the ministry, Christian education, and other programs of the church through music and worship arts activities as requested.

 

Education and Experience

  • Pursuing or has Bachelor’s degree in music or related field, preferred but not required

  • Experience leading choirs and instrumental groups of all ages and types

  • Experience in worship service planning

  • Knowledge of audio-visual tools and techniques

 

Skill Requirements 

  • Demonstrated Christian faith and living

  • Strong instrumental and/or vocal skills preferred

  • High degree of communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to recruit, train, support and encourage participation in worship arts for all ages and abilities
