Construction Assistant

We are seeking a Construction Assistant to join our team in the Grand Rapids, MI area and one in the Lakeshore area (covering Muskegon to St. Joe).

Position Summary:

The Construction Assistant will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day activities of all phases of construction projects from preconstruction to post-construction.

1. Be on time for scheduled work and see tasks through to completion

2. Enthusiastic participation in various hands-on aspects of the construction process, which may include the following:

  • picking up debris and sweeping projects under construction
  • installation of mailboxes, job site signs, silt fence and snow fence
  • dig and install drainage stone & tile
  • build mechanical room shelves
  • assisting framing, trim carpenters, siding, and other trades as necessary

3. Keep Project Managers informed regarding any potential quality issues, client issues, or safety concerns.

4. Maintain a clean and organized job site, including marketing and job signs, maintenance of silt fences, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and furnace filters.

5. Be a participating team member in Construction Team meetings and Staff meetings, as well as other training that may be provided.

6. Safe, accurate, and timely delivery of materials to and from job sites.

7. Take ownership for continuous improvement in the areas of client experience, quality, and profits. Provide ongoing feedback to the appropriate team members with recommendations for improvements.

Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; or 1 year related experience required (preferred)

Skills:
·Ability to perform manual labor – must be able to lift 50 pounds, sweep job sites, etc.; construction related experience a plus; ability to work independently; good written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail; strong organizational skills; ability to work well under pressure; ability to work well with subcontractors; self-motivated; must have reliable transportation

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $16.00 – $20.00 per hour
