Communications - Part-time

Purpose Statement

To proclaim the gospel artfully and effectively through print and digital media.

Job Overview

At Cascade Fellowship, the staff team, council, and membership are all committed to our mission of “radiating the love and truth of Jesus into every area of life.” We are seeking a half-time Communications Lead who is a strategic thinker, a skilled storyteller, and a leader who will develop a strong team of lay volunteers. The Communications Lead creates clear, compelling communication across multiple platforms. He or she will be responsible for designing engaging visuals and creating compelling written copy for digital and print materials including websites, social media posts, newsletters, bulletins, brochures, business cards, signage, worship announcement slides, and other similar projects. More than just managing content, though, we are seeking a leader who champions the mission of the church – reaching our community with the gospel and inspiring our congregation to get connected and to get involved.

Reporting & Teamwork

  • The Communications Lead reports directly to the Lead Pastor, with day-to-day supervision
    provided by the Administrative Director.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Marketing Strategy
    • In collaboration with church leadership, develop a strategy to share the story of our church family through a comprehensive multi-channel communications strategy.
    • Develop and track metrics that evaluate communications engagement and effectiveness. Ensure we deliver engaging, and consistent messaging that appropriately reaches our target internal and external audiences. Make ongoing adaptations to the strategy as necessary.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of all ministry areas and create a comprehensive calendar for communication projects.
    • Craft clear and compelling messages that resonate with both Christian and non-Christian audiences.
    • Learn, follow, and champion all organizational brand, logo, and style guides. Safeguard the voice, tone and brand of Cascade Fellowship, ensuring all communications are aligned with our mission, vision, and strategic approach.
  • Print Design
    • Create newsletters, bulletins, brochures, business cards, posters, flyers, signs, and other materials as needed.
    • Ensure each design is attractive, easily readable, clear, accurate, and completed on time. Print designs should be artistic and creative, yet simple and clear.
    • Manage signage and communication materials for all gatherings and events.
    • Oversee the production of any seasonal or annual communications deliverables. This includes but is not limited to materials for the annual congregational meeting and the annual report.
  • Web

    • Manage the church’s social media presence on all digital platforms.
    • Consistently post excellent and engaging content that keeps current members engaged and serves to reach potential guests with an accurate picture of who we are.
    • Monitor and report relevant stats.
    • Create ad campaigns as necessary.
  • Email/Text Marketing
    • Create and publish recurring and one-time emails to various targeted groups in Mailchimp.
    • Create automated email funnels to help establish and deepen relationships.
    • Explore the use of text-based systems for high priority notifications.
  • Photography
    • Take professional pictures at church events regularly, establishing a library of quality photos that can be used in designs.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Invest in a team of laypeople who assist with all aspects of the communications ministry (designers, writers, photographers, etc.).
    • Manage and implement a system of workflow and project management for all communications.
    • Maintain appropriate records, files, and licenses related to communications.
    • Engage fully in the life of our church by participating in our ministries.
    • Monitor and analyze communications ministry trends, technological advancements, and best practices. Regularly read books, listen to podcasts, and attend workshops to learn and grow in all areas of ministry.
