Children’s Ministry Director
Purpose:
The overall goal of our Children & Student Ministries is to help our students develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ where they engage with God’s Word, grow in their faith, and actively serve Him in their daily lives.
Description of Duties:
● Oversee all classes, activities, and programs in the Children’s Ministry.
● Supervise volunteers in the following Children’s Ministry programs (birth-5th grade):
▪ Nursery
▪ Sunday School
▪ Children’s Church
▪ King’s Kids (Wednesday night program)
▪ Vacation Bible School
▪ Future new ministries
● Maintain meaningful, active engagement in the Children’s Ministry.
● Engage, schedule, and support volunteers and substitutes who have a passion for Children’s Ministry.
● Support Children’s Ministry volunteers by:
▪ Maintaining effective communication.
▪ Training new volunteers, individually, on Children’s Ministry policies and procedures.
▪ Providing training for each specific area of service (teaching, assisting, using Planning
Center Online, media, check-in station, etc.).
▪ Annually providing whole group training for Children’s Ministry volunteers.
● Supervise implementation of program curriculum while defining targeted, age-appropriate learning and spiritual growth outcomes that are in line with GLCC’s vision and goals.
● Maintain, equip, and develop the ongoing Children’s Ministry Leadership Team.
● Cast vision in line with GLCC’s vision and implement enhancements to the Children’s Ministry to foster spiritual growth and ministry growth.
● Maintain consistent communication and collaboration with parents, volunteers, pastoral staff, and the GLCC Board regarding Children’s Ministry events and updates.
● Effectively manage the Children’s Ministry budget and resources.
● Ensure all classroom supplies and snacks are well-stocked (with food allergies in mind).
Qualifications, Skills, and Gifts:
● A heartfelt love for God and children, rooted in a deep, personal relationship with Christ.
● Passion for nurturing children in their faith and Christian education.
● Experience and ability to clearly teach biblical concepts to children.
● Experience working with children in a ministry or educational setting.
● Education/Ministry focused background (preferred).
● Ability to supportively enable and empower others to carry out the work of the ministry.
● Strong administrative, leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
● Engages with and upholds GLCC’s values and vision, reflected in regular attendance at GLCC.
● Familiarity with Planning Center Online Church Management Software (preferred).
Employment Parameters:
Reports to: Youth Pastor
Position: Part-time (20-25 hrs.)
Pay Rate: $20.25/hour
