Job Summary:

The Assistant Shipping Warehouse Manager supports the overall operations of the shipping and receiving department. This role helps ensure timely, accurate shipments and deliveries, helps manage staff performance, maintains inventory control, and ensures compliance with safety and company policies. The assistant manager acts as second-in-command and steps in when the Shipping Manager is unavailable.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in managing all shipping and receiving operations and serve as acting manager in the absence of the Shipping Warehouse Manager.
• Supervise and support warehouse staff in all functions and stations, including training, performance analyses, machine operation, and safety.
• Assist manager with order priorities and appropriate staff needed for daily workload to meet deadlines.
• Work closely with customer service and prepare orders from off-site representatives.
• Use shipping software and systems for ground package quoting and processing.
• Coordinate and schedule shipments with carriers, couriers, and freight forwarders.
• Verify and inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure all shipping paperwork (bills of lading, packing slips, invoices) is accurate and properly maintained.
• Communicate with carriers, vendors, and internal departments to resolve shipping issues or delays.
• Support implementation of warehouse technologies and process improvements.
• Ability to lift and move heavy items, as needed.
• Conduct periodic inventory checks to assist with stock management, including audits to prevent loss, damage, and ensure warehouse accuracy.
• Assist with various facility needs.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for extended periods.
• Forklift certification is a plus.
• May require overtime, weekends, or shift flexibility.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18-20/hour
