The Opportunity
We are seeking a qualified candidate to join our Winter/Spring 2026 Internship Program. This position will support the private archives of a family. Under the supervision of the Archives Manager, the Archives Intern will be responsible for processing new and backlog records for use by family members and staff of its family office. The Archives Intern will collaborate with the Archives team to accomplish assigned projects. Discretion and ability to handle confidential records and information will be of paramount importance.
This position averages 10–20 hours per week during the school year. Typical hours will be Monday through Thursday, anytime between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, to work with your school schedule. Some flexibility may be required depending on department needs.
What You’ll Do
- Survey unprocessed assets and develop a processing plan for the items.
- Arrange and describe the items in accordance with best practices.
- Remove duplicate, non-archival, and material that does not fit within the scope of the collection.
- Create, maintain, and update records in the Collections Management System (Axiell).
- Identify records for digitization.
- Participate in the digitization of 2D and 3D materials.
- Hang and arrange hanging art and artifacts within the storage space.
- Arrange artifacts within the storage space according to set plan.
- Conduct research to support the contextualization and description of archival materials.
- Assist in preparing materials for family viewing as requested.
- Ensure proper handling and care of fragile or sensitive materials during processing and digitization.
- Provide general support for archival projects and initiatives as needed.
What You’ll Bring
- Current graduate student preferred or undergraduate pursuing a degree in History, Library Science, Museum Studies, Local History, or similar.
- Must be willing to work in person.
- Strong attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.
- Demonstrated professional demeanor and service orientation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
