READ Proverbs 5 (listen). WRITE out one verse and SHARE with someone.
Whose hands have gathered up the wind? Who has wrapped up the waters in a cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? Proverbs 30:4b
Read: Proverbs 30:4
Listen: Proverbs 30
King Solomon collected wise sayings from other men who also feared and honored God. While we know little about Kings Agur and Lemuel (the writers of Proverbs 30 and 31), Solomon knew of them and attributed the wisdom of these sayings to them.
In Proverbs 30, Agur forces us to ask, “Who is at the center of the universe and the main character in the story of everything?” According to him—it is not us! These verses tell us that fear of the Lord recognizes Creator God, who is unimaginably intelligent, creative, and powerful far above our own imagination. If he is at the center of everything, he should be the center of our lives. We should view God with a deep sense of awe and respect, which is worship.
Worship is declaring the worth and value of God in our words, living a wise life, and participating with other believers to learn together and praise him with songs and hymns (Colossians 3:16). It’s also personally honoring and praising him through songs, prayers, writings, artwork and photography—whatever inspires us to communicate our awe. We were created to live and love in a way that gives God glory and honor.
Worship should be part of our daily lives. This week, focus on worshipping God through his artistry as Creator. Go outside and breathe in spring! Then express your praise and adoration through prayer, song, photography, artwork or journaling. Share it with someone or post it on social media, giving God praise and honor.
