Ephesians 4.25-29

In Ephesians 4-6 the Apostle Paul describes the transformation that takes place in us as we surrender our lives to Jesus. Much of that transformation regards our speech. If you have a habit of lying, you should stop and start telling the truth. If you allow corrupt words out of your mouth, you should stop and begin speaking words that build others up. As we yield to Jesus’ reign, we begin to bring life just as he brings life to us.

Our words have massive potential to bring life to those around us. A quick word of encouragement to a co-worker or a tender word to an incessant child communicates immense love and value. As Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, changes us from the inside-out, our words should reflect our new hearts.

As you begin your day, take a moment to listen to the song “Words” by Hawk Nelson. Be encouraged today to bring life to those around you by the words you speak.
