Text: Psalm 37.1-11

As king, David regularly dealt with confrontation and people desiring to dethrone him. But David knew the secret to having peace was not to “eliminate the competition,” but to entrust the people and his fears to God. David faced issues with slander, corruption, and coups. His way of dealing with this difficulty is found in Psalm 37.5, “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.”

This week, as we’ve explored the superpower Peace, we’ve seen that peace is almost always preceded by trust. Peace is what we experience when we take the difficult circumstances we’re experiencing, hand them over to God, and commit to obey him through all of it. God loves to show himself faithful on our behalf and teach us that his plans are so much bigger than ours.

To help remind ourselves to trust God, commit Psalm 37.5 to memory. May we then begin to trust him with each event in our lives and experience the peace that comes from his gracious leading.
