TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6

Listen: Psalm 23

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Psalm 23:5-6 paints a beautiful picture of a God with extravagant generosity. Like a Thanksgiving spread in a magazine, David describes a feast prepared just for him. His cup is so full it runs over. God’s love and goodness are so present it is like they are chasing him. It is the type of celebration no one would ever want to leave!

God offers us the same. He offers us contentment, security and restoration. He offers goodness and love that chases us down. But instead of staying, we often set off in our own direction. Instead of settling in on the couch, we sneak out the back door. We can get so busy focusing on other things (some of them are even good) that we don’t find time to settle in for the feast. God’s generosity is so extravagant—but often we don’t want to stay with him. Even though that’s where we should be. Sitting at God’s table is where we find the fully satisfied life.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Reflect on the generosity of God. Return to the worship from the weekend service by watching the video of the song “Glorious Day” by Passion. Pay special attention to the lyrics, “Now Your mercy has saved my soul. Now Your freedom is all I know. The old made new. Jesus, when I met You.” That’s the generosity of God and what he offers when we remain with him.
