READ: Revelation 21:1-6
LISTEN: Revelation 21
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. Revelation 21:4
Jesus knows pain and endures great suffering. Jesus experiences the brokenness of the world and then dies on the cross to defeat death and end suffering. Suffering came into the world with Adam and Eve’s rebellion against God’s good plan. Jesus, the second Adam, comes to reverse the curse. God takes on flesh to live the perfect life and gives himself up to rescue people from the grip of sin and offer them new life—the life he created them for. The Bible describes a day when Jesus will return to end all death, mourning, crying and pain.
Jesus is proof that God cares about our pain and suffering. There is no greater injustice than what happened on the cross. A perfect person, God-in-flesh, was executed for a crime he didn’t commit. Jesus did it because his love for us was so great. He would endure the worst pain and suffering for us. This is a God we can trust. We can trust that he is with us in our pain and can wisely redeem our pain. We can live with hope that there will be a day without more pain.
TODAY: Tell God you trust him in your pain. Thank him for the work of Jesus on the cross and the promise of a day without pain.
