Paul’s Power

Helping others grow can be tiring, requiring significant amounts of energy, effort, and consistency. Paul knew what this felt like, “To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me” (Colossians 1.29). Paul knows if he dares rely on his own strength, energy, or power, he’s doomed and his mission will fail.
A growing relationship with Jesus is the most important thing we have to offer those we serve. In the clip below, Pastor Bob King highlights the importance of serving and staying connected to the power source.
There are important environments in which we need to participate in order to “strenuously contend” and grow in our faith. At Ada Bible Church, we have three environments we believe are critical for helping us grow and stay connected to the power of Christ in our lives: the Row, the Circle, and the Chair.
In the Row, we listen to a teacher open the Scriptures to inspire and motivate us to follow Jesus. In the Circle, we have an opportunity to dialogue over what we heard in the Row with other followers of Jesus. We can ask questions, encourage, challenge, and pray for each other. Lastly, in the Chair, we have the daily opportunity to invite God into our day.
Today, take a moment to offer a prayer of thanksgiving for these environments that help us grow more like Jesus. Then listen to the song “Broken Vessels [Amazing Grace]” by Hillsong Worship as you spend a few moments worshipping your gracious Creator.
