In Jeremiah 1, it’s clear Jeremiah fears being left alone to struggle on his own when asked by God to do an “impossible” task.
Impossible situations can isolate us and confuse our faith. It’s our human tendency to wonder if God has abandoned us. Thankfully he understands our human weakness and tells Jeremiah, “Do not be afraid of them for I am with you and will rescue you” (Jeremiah 1.8). Likewise, God gives us his Word to assure us, his Holy Spirit to live with perseverance, and his promise to sort things out in his way and timing.
In this weekend’s sermon, Pastor Manion shared a clip from an interview done on Day of Discovery by the host, Mart DeHaan, with former Calvary Church pastor Ed Dobson who recently passed away from of ALS. Pastor Dobson shares after his diagnosis he became consumed with fear, but through Hebrews 13.5-6 God assured him, “I am with you,” giving him the strength to face each day. See below for the video clip.
Today as you spend time with God, remember he wants to you know, “I am with you!” You are not alone in your longsuffering. Thank him as you listen to the song, “He is With You,” by Mandisa.
