Read: Acts 2:46-47
Listen: Acts 2
“Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.”Acts 2:46
The early church continues to gather in the temple court. Thousands come each day to listen to the Apostles teach and to pray and worship together. They also gather in smaller settings in homes. They share meals, likely talk about what the Apostles taught and grow in their new understanding of what Jesus has done for them. They go “all in” on both the large and small gatherings. Where one provides powerful teaching and praising God together, the other provides powerful personal connections and application to their lives.
We too need both large and small connections with other believers. Fellowship happens as thousands gather as one voice to sing God’s praise and listen to teaching of his Word. We reorient our hearts together toward God before entering our week. Fellowship also happens as a group of ten sits in a circle to pray or around a dining table to share a meal and stories of God’s work in their lives. The small gathering offers space to ask questions and know each other’s stories and struggles. Both matter. Like logs in a fire, one fuels the other and keeps the fire of fellowship going. Without one or the other, the fire risks dimming to an ember.
TODAY: Consider your commitment to both the large fellowship of weekend services and the small fellowship of groups. Small groups will be launching across Ada Bible Church in the coming weeks. If you are in a group, re-commit to engaging regularly with your group. If you are not in a group, now is the perfect time to join. You can find all our group opportunities and register HERE.
