Overview

A LifeWise teacher combines strong Bible knowledge with excellent teaching skills to share the gospel with both churched and unchurched public school students in a classroom setting. The ideal candidate is an active church member with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities who is caring, perceptive, and highly effective in teaching children.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience with students in either a school or church setting

  • A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith

  • Active participation in, and commitment to, a local church whose doctrine aligns with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith

Training Requirements

  • Complete all initial and ongoing LifeWise training

    • Successfully finish the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course before teaching

    • Participate in the annual LifeWise Summit

    • Attend at least one Teachers’ Lounge and one LifeWise Meet-Up each year

    • Stay current on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise email

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teach LifeWise classes using the LifeWise curriculum

  • Build meaningful relationships with students and pray for them regularly

  • Create and maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment

  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and apply redemptive discipline methods

  • Follow all LifeWise policies, procedures, and available resources

Record Keeping

  • Take attendance each class period and provide records to the program director and/or school personnel as needed

  • Maintain accurate class rosters, including any health concerns or special needs noted on parent permission slips

  • Prepare clear plans and materials for substitute teachers when necessary

Classroom Maintenance

  • Keep the classroom clean, inviting, and well-organized

  • Know and follow emergency procedures

  • Purchase needed classroom supplies using funds provided by the program director

Communication

 

  • Serve as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community

  • Attend annual school open houses and other outreach events when available

  • Maintain regular communication with school personnel regarding schedule changes and student needs

  • Build relationships with volunteers and keep them updated on schedule adjustments

  • Submit regular updates, stories, and photos to the program director

  • Promote and communicate LifeWise’s religious mission in all responsibilities and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization’s core values and beliefs
