“All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.” Acts 4:32

The book of Acts presents the history of a dynamic, growing community of believers. It begins as a small group of believing Jews in Jerusalem. This community expands to include dozens of cities and provinces across Asia, Africa and Europe. They speak different languages. They have different economic and social standings. They come from varied cultural backgrounds and experiences. This unexpectedly diverse community thrives because they are “one in heart and mind” in the risen Jesus Christ. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, they share the good news of Jesus, loving and serving one another.

The same should be true for our church today. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, Ada Bible Church is a place where vastly different people come together. From personality types and life experiences to economic backgrounds and family structure, one thing unites us—Jesus and his mission. This shared mission to be disciples of Jesus and to make disciples is why we serve one another. When we are “all in” on Jesus’s mission and serve together, the Holy Spirit brings us together in a distinct way. Our shared purpose creates a unique bond, unlike any other. Living his mission brings God the honor and praise he deserves and draws other people to Jesus.
