Job Title: Director of Engagement – African American Ministries

Job Code: Exempt

Position Summary

Serve churches and ministry partners with resources which encourage, enrich, equip, and engage Christ-followers and advance God’s local and global kingdom. Our team does this by developing and deepening relationships with churches and strategic partners in the United States through church, denominational and organizational partnerships, multiethnic ministries, prison ministries, chaplaincy programs, and the volunteer Ambassador program.

 

Essential Duties

  1. Conduct and coordinate face-to-face meetings, communication, and other activities with churches, pastors, chaplains, staff and other key individuals through personalized attention, spiritual encouragement, donor appreciation, and strategic solicitation of financial resources which results in mutually transformative partnerships.
  2. Initiate and develop effective church engagement and ministry partner strategies.
  3. Identify, build, and manage a portfolio of churches, organizations, and individuals.
  4. Plan and implement effective moves management strategies to steward these relationships.
  5. Consistently meet individual goals and contribute to team goals and objectives that help meet organizational goals and objectives. 
  6. Work with internal partners to communicate and coordinate strategies for better stewardship of resources and better service of our ministry partners.
  7. Provide guidance, materials, and support for Our Daily Bread Ministries that enables the Ministry to create resources that meet the needs of the church and our strategic partners.
  8. Utilize Our Daily Bread Ministry’s CRM (i.e., MPX; Salesforce) to manage donor records and activities and ensure that all data is inputted promptly and accurately.
  9. When appropriate, introduce and utilize Our Daily Bread Ministry’s president, senior leaders, board members and field staff to build a broad understanding of the scope of the Ministry and to assist in deepening connections and transformational partnerships.
  10. Work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers, contractors, and customers.

 

Job Specifications

 

 

Study or Knowledge & Experience:

  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of the Black church in America.
  • Connections and/or experience with historic Black denominations and ministry networks, HBCU’s, and Black campus ministries. 

·      Bachelor’s degree in a related field; master’s degree preferred.

·      Minimum of five years of relevant work in a local church, church network, nonprofit, and/or national/regional ministry. Includes experience in preaching, public speaking, worship services, church gatherings, and meetings.

·      Experience in sales and/or donor development.

·      Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

·      Additional functions in using a CRM for donor and partnership development (i.e., MPX, Salesforce).

·      Strong understanding of the North American church and Christian nonprofits.

·      Strong verbal and written skills and excellent interpersonal skills.

·      Manage multiple and changing priorities, while remaining goal oriented. Keep and manage records in an orderly manner. 

·      Experience in and passion for specific ministry area (e.g., church, denominational and organizational partnerships, multiethnic ministries, prison ministries, chaplaincy programs, and the volunteer Ambassador program)

·      Strive to live a life consistent with biblical principles, engaged with the Bible on a consistent basis and demonstrate continued growth and spiritual development.

 

Internal Work Environment:

Will involve regular communication that may be complex and detailed with other department and ministry efforts throughout the organization.

 

External Communication Requirements:

Extensive communication with outside groups, churches, ministry partners, guests, and vendors. Must present a positive image of Our Daily Bread Ministries. Able to convert relationships into effective and sustained partnerships for Our Daily Bread Ministries.

 

Leadership Responsibility:

Leads a ministry effort and all aspects of a specific area.

Stewardship of Resources:

Responsible for the assigned budget for a specific area. Has major input in establishing budgets. 

 

Miscellaneous:

Regular domestic travel.
