Hebrews 12.1-11

The author of Hebrews is writing to the Jewish believers who’ve been scattered because of severe persecution. Not only are they being ostracized for their faith in Jesus, but they’ve been displaced from the only homes they’ve ever known. If there was ever a temptation to give up, it was now. So the author writes, “Consider him [Jesus] who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you may not grow weary and lose heart” (Hebrews 12.3).

When we grow weary or lose heart, we need to turn our eyes back to Jesus. Walking in complete obedience to the Father, Jesus never gave up and endured even the cross to rescue us. We’re encouraged, not only by Jesus, but by the scores of believers who have gone before us and endured trials in their journey of faith (Hebrews 11.1-12.3).

Our theme today is simple: keep going. When you feel like giving up, keep going. When you don’t think you have enough to carry on, keep going. Turn to God, entrust your trial to him, and keep going.

To encourage you today, take a moment to listen to the song “Ever Be” by Bethel Music. May our praise to God be constant as we continue moving forward, keeping our eyes on our ever-constant Savior, Jesus.
