MFA Soccer Coaching Residency Program
Michigan Futbol Academy (MFA) is offering a unique Coaching Residency Program designed to develop and nurture aspiring soccer coaches who strive to join the largest youth soccer club in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Coaching Residency Program is a comprehensive process that allows coaches to gain valuable experience, hone their coaching skills, and work alongside some of the most established and esteemed mentors in the Grand Rapids soccer community. Coaches can enter the program at any point throughout the year but must complete a checklist of tasks defined by MFA Directors to be considered for our travel teams in MFA Revolution.
Compensation:
Compensation is at an hourly rate up to $25/hour. Pay is based on program, experience, and performance.
Responsibilities:
1. Coaching in Juniors Program (ages 3-6): Hourly Rate or Contracted

Lead coaching segments for the Juniors program with technical director

Conduct three segments of different sessions to demonstrate versatility
and adaptability in coaching young players.

Assistant Coach in MFA Juniors program on a regular basis
2. Coaching in MFA 616 Program (ages 6-12): Hourly Rate or Contracted

Coach 1-2 rec-level teams within MFA 616 and assist in our soccer classes.

Study and execute practice plans for your assigned team, focusing on age-
appropriate skill development and fostering a positive learning
environment.

Guide your team through a six-game season, providing mentorship and
support to players during matches.
3. Assistant Coaching in MFA Revolution: Volunteer

Attend and actively participate in designated number of practice sessions.

Work closely with Coaching Directors to learn and implement MFA
coaching methodologies.

Receive constructive feedback and guidance from experienced coaches to
facilitate your professional growth.

Gain valuable experience and exposure by leading specific portions of
training sessions.

This role is unpaid; however, the insights gained from working with top-
level coaches are invaluable for career development.

Requirements:

A passion for soccer coaching and a genuine interest in working with young players to foster their development.

A commitment to continuous learning and an eagerness to implement feedback to enhance coaching abilities.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage players, parents, and fellow coaching staff positively.

Flexibility to work in different age groups and adapt coaching techniques to suit various skill levels.

Ability to use and store equipment properly, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Familiarity with Michigan Futbol Academy’s coaching philosophy and training
methods (to be acquired during the program).

Coaches interested in joining the Coaching Residency Program by Michigan Futbol Academy (MFA) can apply throughout the year. To be considered, applicants must complete the following tasks:

Provide a cover letter expressing your motivation to be part of the Coaching Residency Program and how you envision contributing to MFA’s soccer community.

Participate in an interview with MFA Leadership to assess suitability and alignment with our coaching values.
Upon successful completion of the Coaching Residency Program checklist, coaches will be highly considered for roles within our travel teams on a yearly contract, based on their performance, dedication, and alignment with MFA’s Coaching Philosophy and mission.
