Job Description

Other - Part-time

Details: +/-30 hours per week, salary based on experience, with potential for growth. PTO, paid holidays and professional development opportunities offered.

Children’s Healing Center (CHC) is the nation’s first recreational center for kids with weak immune systems. Located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, we provide social and emotional healing in a germ-free environment. The Center is a safe haven for kids ages 0 to 26, and their families, to step away from the stress of a complex medical diagnosis to just have fun! We break down the barriers of isolation and make play possible.

The Project Administrator assists with program and strategic initiatives at the Center. Responsibilities include:

Organize and facilitate Young Adult Group

  • Develop young adult (AYA) program sessions and outings including an annual overnight retreat. 

  • Grow AYA member base and attendance at programs.

  • Maintain AYA social media and website.

  • Work with volunteers to execute AYA Halloween ball, grants, and diagnosis bags. 

Can you organize programming, communications and funds for a subset of the Center member population? Can you build friendships between a group of 18 to 26-year-olds?

Assist with Research Study data collection and organization

  • Enter data, run reports and review research in the REDCap system.

  • Conduct follow-up phone calls and emails with participants.

  • Inform investigators and the study coordinator of any challenges or problems reported by participants immediately.

Can you work within a team to conduct outcome measurements on the benefits of Center programs? Can you organize data and maintain accurate detailed information?

Implement strategic growth projects

  • Research and analyze third party reimbursement and the healthcare landscape.

  • Review existing literature on Center outcomes. Find and summarize research articles for use in grants, communications, and future research.

  • Work with experts, consultants and committee members to advance the strategic initiatives of a first-of-its-kind Healing Center

Can you research, understand and distill information with little advanced knowledge of the subject matter? Can you clearly communicate information learned in writing to team members and potential funders?

Execute Center Programs

  • Plan and execute weeknight and some Saturday programs.

  • Lead volunteers to execute programs.

Can you engage member kids and parents through play and conversation to create friendships? Can you organize volunteers to help with planned activities and maintain a safe place for our members? 


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Clear communication and writing skills

  • Experience with kids and young adults. Ability to manage Center in emergency situations

  • Understanding of healthcare and research landscape

  • Familiar with Office 365 (i.e. Word, Excel, SharePoint)

  • Ability to work nights and weekends and commitment to nontraditional work schedule

  • Physical demands include to stoop, kneel, climb/ position oneself at kids’ level, move throughout Center to oversee programs and lift/ move 25-45 lbs
