Most people would like to stay in their home and avoid assisted living as long as possible, and we will all be in that position someday. But today, you can help make independence a reality for West Michigan area residents who just need a little help with personal care and light housekeeping. As a Personal Care Companion, you’ll be providing more than valuable services that empower seniors, you’ll also be offering much-needed companionship and compassion. In short, you’ll be enriching the lives of others while enhancing your own career.
Duties

– Following the personal care plan of the client including assisting with bathing, grooming, toileting, and dressing with possible transfers from bed to wheelchair

– Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning and laundry

– Providing general companionship to our clients, including conversation

– Communicate needs, concerns of client, family, staff, or others to ownership

– Ensure compliance with company policies, standards, training, and meetings

– Interact professionally with other staff, family, doctors, and agencies
Qualifications

– Experience in health and human services preferred

– Current driver’s license, insurance, and good driving record

– Minimum of high school degree or equivalent, and be at least 18 years old

– Willingness to learn new skills and work independently and in cooperation with others

– Ability to communicate with others effectively and professionally with a high degree of sensitivity and respect, timeliness, attire, policies, and procedures

– Ability to work with physically or mentally impaired clients, possibly having a form of dementia

– Must work two Saturdays and two Sundays a month, plus occasional holidays

– Ability to lift, bend, stoop, and pivot

– Ability to read, hear, speak, write, and communicate on the phone and in person

– Ability to perform simple household tasks, cooking, bathing, and care
