Position Summary:

This person oversees the Medical Services Department, ensuring that exceptional medical care is consistently delivered to our patients through the management of all on-site services, as well as after-hours phone and texting support. The Medical Services Director is responsible for ensuring that staff are given the education and resources to perform their jobs well, while also encouraging ongoing professional development. S/he represents the Pregnancy Resource Center (PRC) and issues around unplanned pregnancy in the community and within the PRC with excellence. This person will work collaboratively with the Chief Operations Officer and Human Resources Consultant to ensure all PRC policies and procedures including medical policies, are well communicated, up-to-date, and closely followed.

Specific Responsibilities:

Supervision:

  • Provides overall leadership of Medical Services Department, including direct supervision of staff

  • Assumes responsibility for required training and ongoing development of all Medical Services staff

  • In concert with the Advanced Practice Provider, ensures STD and pregnancy clients are served professionally

  • Ensures adequate staffing of staff and volunteers, updating job descriptions, as needed

  • Manages training processes for department’s staff and volunteers

  • Provides opportunities for Medical Services staff to attend local workshops, seminars, and staff development

  • Communicates with the Patient Process Manager regarding data trends

  • Performs staff evaluations

  • Oversees Child Protective Services reporting to ensure that PRC policy is followed

  • Oversees training and processes for the PRC Scheduling Line

Patient Relations:

  • Develops and maintains patient process, and ensures staff members adhere to this process

  • Sees patients when staff or volunteers are unavailable

  • Provides community referrals and collaboration, as needed

  • Evaluates educational resources, brochures, and community referral documents

Administrative Duties:

  • Works with Compliance Coordinator in the development of Medical Services-related policies

  • Creates and nurtures community relationships within the medical field

  • Leads policy implementation within department

  • Supports compliance policy development

  • Leads quarterly Medical Committee meetings and monthly department meetings

  • Provides input on client website content and marketing materials

  • Approves, evaluates, and revises all materials used for staff and patient education

  • Collects and provides patient stories and photos for PRC publications, as requested

  • Maintains Medical Services Department budget

  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or other medical license

  • At least five years of leadership/management experience in a medical environment

  • Detail-oriented

  • Organizational skills

  • Ability to learn, teach, and inform

  • Background in cultural competence

  • Ability to build and retain positive relationships

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while working with highly sensitive data

  • Self-starter, able to work in fast-paced environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient in smart phone usage, texting, Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, Excel, and database software

  • Flexible and able to work an occasional evening and/or weekend (additional hours may be required for staff development, during an event season, or as requested by supervisor)

  • Possess a valid driver’s license as well as reliable transportation (necessary for position requirements)
