Key Relationship Specialist

Position title: Key Relationship Specialist.
Position type: Staff (full-time, salaried).
Location: Hybrid
Department: Development.
Reports to: Development Director.
Basic function of position: The Key Relationship Specialist plays a pivotal role in Alpha Grand Rapids’ fundraising efforts by cultivating and nurturing relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners. This position is responsible for strategically engaging with key stakeholders to ensure sustainable financial support for the organization’s programs and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Relations
· Develop and cultivate a portfolio of key partners.
· Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, sponsors, and partners.
· Develop personalized stewardship plans for donors, ensuring regular communication and engagement.
· Collaborate with the President and Director Development to identify and prioritize key relationships for cultivation.
· Collaborate with the President and Director Development to secure major gifts and corporate sponsorships.
· Assist in grant writing process as needed.
Fundraising Events
· Help plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events, including but not limited to annual banquet, donor and volunteer appreciation events, and community outreach activities.
· Work with other staff, volunteers, and committees to maximize the impact of fundraising events.
· Evaluate the effectiveness of events and make recommendations for improvement.
Database Management
· Utilize donor management software to track interactions, gifts, and donor information.
· Regularly update donor records and ensure data accuracy.
· Generate reports and analytics to inform fundraising strategies.
Communication and Outreach
· Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to create compelling fundraising materials, including newsletters, brochures, and online content.
· Assist in the development of fundraising campaigns and appeals.
· Represent Alpha Grand Rapids at community events, speaking engagements, and meetings as needed.
Other
· Participate in departmental and organizational meetings as required.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
· Act in the best interest of Alpha Grand Rapids.
Qualifications for the Position
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., nonprofit management, business, marketing, communication) preferred.
Prior work experience
· Experience in a role in which goal setting and achievement are key responsibilities.
· Experience in nonprofit fundraising and donor relations a plus.
· Proven track record of successfully achieving goals.
· Experience with grant writing and reporting a plus.
Language proficiency
· English required.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Skills and abilities
· Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
· Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor management software.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to set and meet stretch goals.
· Does not get flustered or discouraged easily.

Ramp-Up Time: Six months.
