Job Title: Education Instructor (Sexual Risk Avoidance Specialist)

Department: Education

Reporting Relationship: Education Process Manager

Required Hours: 4 days of availability; Part time; 24 hours per week, hourly (non-exempt)

Position Summary: The primary purpose of the Education Instructor (SRA Specialist) is to provide training and instruction to students in schools, churches, and community settings using approved Proactive Education department curriculums. Current curriculums include but are not limited to: Health Me, Healthy Relationships, Willing to Wait® Middle School, and Willing to Wait® High School, The Whole Sex Talk.

Specific Responsibilities:

Teaching and Community Engagement:

  • Accountable for all aspects of teaching and speaking

      • Fulfill assigned teaching obligations as set by Education Director

      • Communicate with Education Department Staff concerning class schedule

      • Manage class time and follow approved curriculum content to cover state-mandated material and school district requirements in applicable environments

      • Manage classroom atmosphere to be conducive for learning

      • Represent the PRC and Willing to Wait® with professionalism to school administration, parents, students, and community members

Department Responsibilities and Certifications:

  • Participation in training opportunities and team interactions to attain level of excellence

      • Attend related seminars and workshops as offered. Complete KISD, state certifications, and SRA Specialist Credential as position requires

      • Participate in long-range planning meetings and department trainings for program improvement (at start and end of school year)

      • Provide lesson plan feedback and/or ideas to curriculum coordinator for the continual improvement of the elementary, middle, and high school curricula

Administrative and Organization Involvement:

  • Completion of day-to-day clerical tasks and operations as necessitated by the position

      • Complete and file appropriate paperwork associated with the position (student surveys, teacher feedback form, staff survey, timesheets, staff performance evaluation, etc)

      • Maintain care of and be knowledgeable in the use of PRC property as distributed for the position (laptop, projector, HDMI cords, pointers, chemicals for classroom activities, etc)

      • Participate in Prayer Summit, all-staff meetings, and other PRC sponsored events as schedule permits

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while working with highly sensitive data

  • Able to lift 25 pounds and be able to stand or walk in classroom for extended periods of time without taking a break

  • Flexible and able to work an occasional evening and/or weekend (additional hours may be required for staff development, during an event season, or as requested by supervisor)

  • Possess a valid driver’s license, as well as reliable transportation (necessary for position requirements)

  • Possess a reliable phone for communication with main office (necessary for position requirements)
